Volunteering

Volunteering is a major part of our travelling experience and whilst on the road we have been involved in many projects. From picking fruit in Portugal, building straw-bale extensions and planting apple orchards in Germany, helping on farms and small homesteads in Austria and Bulgaria to building websites for organic and responsible business’ in Turkey. We like to offer a hand where we can in the right places.

We have profiles on both Workaway and Help-x which we would like to encourage you to take a look at, on these sites we detail the projects/type of work we would like to volunteer on and the skills we can offer.

What we give:

We will work 5 hours a day, 5 days a week on the following types of projects/tasks:

Permaculture and Organic farming , Permablitz, Eco building, Permaculture course assistants, Designing and implementing Permaculture designs, Green energy projects, Composting, Biodynamics, Aquaponics, Aquaculture, Rainwater harvesting, Food production, Animal care, Local crafts.

Our professional skills include: Online Business management, eCommerce & Marketing , Graphic Design,web design, illustration and animation. Permaculture Designer (PDC Certified), Photograpy, travel writing/blogging, but please note that whilst we are also happy to share and put to use our existing skills in design and web management we will only do this on a volunteer basis for Permaculture and or Organic business’, we would still be looking for a skill exchange during our stay.

We will bring smiles, energy, cooking skills, inspiration and some interesting travel stories.  We will be respectful of your space, environment, beliefs and culture. We do not smoke and do not need to drink alcohol.

Also please be aware that whilst travelling Anna has seriously injured her back and x-rays have revealed a moderate case of Scoliosis as such she is under doctors orders to do no heavy lifting, bending, twisting etc.  Anna is still fit and able to complete many tasks but very heavy manual labour has to be avoided.

What we expect in return:

Comfortable living accommodation, 3 meals a day (we can cook for ourselves if needed but would expect to be provided with food and drink supplies), honesty from the host, genuine skill and cultural exchange and plenty of fun along the way. We would also like to see references and do not expect to have to pay for or make contributions towards food/accommodation.
